-Where does your passion for photography come from?

Follow Up

I really enjoyed this Skype experience with Tim Roda. At first, I thought his work was strange and I wasn't sure that I would be able to relate. After speaking with him I found that by simply listening and observing him as a person, I was able to understand where his personality shows in his work. It's almost as if someone turned the light switch on in a dark room. Overall it was a good experience.

Jason Hackett Questions and Follow-Up

-Your work consists of a lot of house hold or random objects upon other objects. What is your creative process that bring you to these conclusions of art?

- Why do you only choose handmade objects?

- I enjoyed the humor behind image 3 "Two Beards". What brought that about and was there a deeper meaning behind the humor?

-Who would you consider to be your biggest inspiration?

-Have you ever had a message that you wanted to express but felt your art work wouldn't do that message justice? If so, how do you handle that?

Claire Sherwood

- What is the significance of all of the frosting?

-Your works are much brighter than the last works we've reviewed. What drives your artwork?

-You seem to do a lot of work with textures. What fascinates you about the textural component of art?

-You're videos are very bold and creative. What made you decide to use this medium of art?

Follow-Up

Claire was very nice. The more we talk to these artists. The more I am starting to notice that their personalities and their works really compliment the other. It makes me wonder how people understand the image or the message if they don't know the person. I like her use of creativity. I think I'm the only art work that I have been able to identify with.

Color

Terracota

Terracota is a deep and rich color. When seen in nature, this color wouldn't be described as gorgeous. I would typically describe it as earthy brown with an orange tint. This color is most commonly seen in flowers pots. Especially the kind that people use when they are painting them. I chose this color because it isn't common. How many times do you ask someone a color that they favor and they respond with Terracotta? I can't really say that this color is my favorite color, but when choosing colors for any reason, I like to find shades that are different. It's not a red, or a purple or pink or orange. It's something that forces you to think of all of it's components.

Pre Zombie Apocalypse

In the picture, there are several shelves stocked with product as if the picture was taken in a grocery or convenience store. Some of the products include soda, snacks, pills cereal, detergent, febreeze and other household items. this picture makes me feel overwhelmed at the many products that we as Americans consume on a daily basis. The people in this photograph look confused at the massive selection in front of them. They must be wondering about the capacity to make an informed decision with such a gluten of product and selection. The thought process of even simply tasks like shopping becomes complicated. We as consumers constantly have to consider brand loyalty and the worth of our dollar. Before the photograph was taken, the couple shopping was looking forward to a more organized grocery store experience but yet they have come to find more clutter and frustration than anything else. The store is set up in a small location making all of the products compact and the organization convoluted. This is only contributing to the chaotic thoughts as a consumer. This only shows that our society operates on clutter and unorganized thought processes. Everything that we do today is meant only to be profitable versus practical for living.
